he Holiday destination Drvenik, is a popular place at the Makarska Riviera. From the city there is a ferry connection to Sucuraj on the island of Hvar and to Domince on Island Korcula.
Further destinations which can be reached are Trpanj on the peninsula of Peljesac and Bol on the island of Brac, the last although not with regular ferry, but on an excursion boats.
The beautiful wooded coves with coffee bars, give Drvenik a special charm.
In the traditional taverns local specialties like, fish and seafood are served. Especially at night, a glass of wine combined with the beautiful sea makes anyone relax. Shopping options, as well as an exchange office, post office and a bank can be reached by foot. The pebble beaches in the Drvenik area are surrounded by pine trees, which makes them ideal for families with kids. Smaller boats and sailing boats can set anchor in the Western or Eastern bay (Gornja Vala).
The first settlement in the area of Drvenik was mentioned in the 13th Century. In the old village, above the Donja Vala, the church of St. Juraj from the 15th Century can be found, above the village the fortress Drvenik. On a hill north of the village, tower ruins and fortification walls, dating back to the 17th century can be found. Above the main road there are numerous paved and unpaved paths which are excellent for hiking, especially in the off season when it is not to warm. The reward is a breathtaking view.
